Kids in Speke let down by library opening hours

Speke Liberal Democrat campaigners David Murray and Paul Theobald are leading the campaign to keep Speke Parklands library open after school and at the weekends.

Currently the library closes at 4.30pm on weekdays and remains shut all weekend. If local people want to use a library at the weekend, the council expects them to catch a bus to into the city centre or Allerton Road.

"It is vital that children have somewhere quiet to do homework and enjoy reading. The current opening hours just do not allow for this,” says David Murray.

Paul Theobald added, “Having the library closed on Saturdays is madness. That is the day many families are using the shops opposite and could call into the library.”

“Having access to books is vital for children. The opening hours are crazy when it is so important for everyone, especially children.”

Let's use common sense and keep Speke Library open after school and on the weekend!

We the undersigned support the campaign to keep Speke Library open after school and on the Weekend
