Mossley Hill Station - Close the gap!
For years, passengers have struggled to get use Mossley Hill station due to the large step onto the train from platform 2. This is particularly difficult for older passengers, families with young children, and those with disabilities. Many have simply given up using the station, and are forced to drive or catch a bus to other stations.
This problem didn't used to exit. However, in the mid 2000's Network Rail relaid the track to speed up express trains. This means that trains now tilt away from the platform, creating a large step up to the train.
A Freedom of Information Request by Lib Dem councillors shows that Merseytravel and Northern Rail looked into raising the platform in 2012, but abandoned the idea as too complicated. They currently have no plans to carry out any improvements in the future. This is unacceptable.
We believe that everyone should be able to safely catch a train from our local station. Please sign the petition below calling for Northern Rail, Network Rail and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority to work together to find a solution to make Mossley Hill Station accessible for all passengers.
Close the gap! Fix the platform at Mossley Hill Station
The large gap between trains and platform at Mossley Hill Station is dangerous and prevents many local people from using the train. We call on the Metro Mayor, LCR Combined Authority, Northern Rail and Network Rail to work together to find a solution to make the station safe and accessible for all passengers.
