RAW SEWAGE DUMPED 4198 TIMES INTO MERSEY

12 Dec 2022

Liberal Democrats are calling for United Utilities to be made to pay to clean up the Mersey, after discovering the company had dumped sewage into our river 4198 times (or 11 times a day) during 2021.

The Lib Dems are demanding a ‘Sewage Tax’ of 16% on water companies to create an emergency fund - after United Utilities made a huge £600 Million profit last year.

Garston campaigners Peter Millea and Mike McAllister-Bell said: “It is disgraceful to see a company which pollutes the Mersey with sewage making such large profits. They should be made to pay to clean up the mess they cause”.
