Liverpool Lib Dem launch campaign to save two Liverpool Post Offices
The Breck Road and Old Swan Post Offices are at risk of closure after plans to potentially close 115 post office branches across the country were announced.
The two post offices are wholly owned by the Post Office limited and they announced plans to shake up their business model, this could include shutting them down.
Cllr Carl Cashman, leader of the Liverpool Lib Dems, said "The post office service in Everton and Old Swan are vital for the local community, and it is hugely concerning to hear of the planned closure.
“I’m fighting to save our local Post Office, and make sure our communities across Liverpool aren't left without the essential services they provide to so many people across our communities.”
Community Campaigners Kevin Robinson-Hale and Craig Pearson also commented saying, “Everton and Old Swan are two deprived communities in the City, lots of older people rely on the Post Office to do their banking, pay their bills and so much more. With so many companies doing things online or digitally, it’s shutting out people who don’t have access or don’t know how to use technology. That’s why these post offices matter so much. It’s great to see that the Lib Dem are leading the campaign on this!”
Urgent! Save Liverpool's Post Office before it's too late!
I/we the undersigned support the campaign to save post office services in Liverpool - including Breck Road and Old Swan Post Offices. We call on Government to provide proper funding for post offices, and Post Office Ltd to find an alternative location for the post office before the current post office closes.
