Liverpool Lib Dems at pride

Tell the Health Secretary to end the harmful ban on Puberty Blockers!

The decision by the Health Secretary Wes Streeting to make the ban on puberty blockers permanent is dangerous and unnecessary - it needs to be reversed immediately.

Puberty blockers are safe and effective medical tools, they have been in use since the 1950s and have been used in trans healthcare since the 1980s. They are reversible and allow children the time and space to understand their feelings before they either choose to stop taking them (and undergo puberty associated with their sex at birth), or medically transition.

The effects of going through the wrong puberty when you are trans are extremely damaging. It leaves you with irreversible physical, mental and hormonal changes that lead to more psychological challenges further down the line. More than anything else, puberty blockers afford children options and time.

he Liberal Democrats have a long history of standing up for LGBTQ+ people, including Trans rights. Labour have turned their back on the Trans community over this issue, siding with the Conservatives and Transphobes who use the lives of queer people as fodder in their culture wars.

Enough is enough - end the dangerous ban on puberty blockers!

It's time to stop the politicisation of trans healthcare and the culture war nonsense. We're calling on Wes Streeting to end the ban on Puberty Blockers and stop using the lives and healthcare of trans people as a political prop!
