Taken for a ride by bus cuts
Parts of Liverpool have been left with “almost useless” bus services, after a deal was signed by Labour transport bosses.
Under the deal, bus companies were paid £12 Million of taxpayer’s money to reduce single fares by 40 pence (although day and season tickets prices have not been cut).
In September they slashed frequencies on 13 routes, with many receiving either hourly, or a confusing 40 minutely service.
“Bus companies were given taxpayer’s cash, but were not told that they need to maintain services,” says Festival Gardens Lib Dem campaigner Steve Brauner. “They should be forced to run a decent service before receiving taxpayer’s money.”
